Inktober 2022, Days 9-10…

Yesterday, I started working on facial expressions. I have this really cool book…

I practiced a face, then thought I’d put it on one of my Inktober Monsters from 2018… wow they are 4 years old now! I thought Redvines would be ‘easy’, since he’s a simple shape. But I found myself frustrated by his arms for hours!

My husband suggested I keep it simple and just focus on the expressions. So today, I took the busts of 7 of my Inktober Monsters (no arms, just face) and applied the expression on each one of them. It was fun and interesting trying to figure out how to make a squinty eye for the bug-eyed monsters, and the monster with long eyelashes. Then I printed it out and inked it. I had so much fun!

I’m thinking of painting them with watercolor, but I ran out of time today.

Until next time…
