Shelter in Place: Day 164…

Hey guys!

I keep telling myself that I’ll post again the following day and not to put all the photos in one post… then I blink and several days have passed! Ugh.

For today’s show and tell, I attended a character design class through SVS, it was very interesting and here are my results…
First we played with shapes for five characters after having been given characteristic words for each (ie. curious, proud, conceited, etc.)…

Next I played around with proportions…

I even played around with where the eyes, nose and mouth would sit in the face shape. Unfortunately, it looks like I didn’t save my progress, just my final ideas…

Then putting the shape and faces together and adding costumes (click to enlarge).  At some point my husband and I discussed how Maurice was tall and big, but Beast was small and squat and how that didn’t seem realistic for the characters.  So I played around with proportions a bit more…

They felt like real characters once I added hair…

I really don’t know anything about Beauty and the Beast (the character assignment)… sure, I know OF the story, I’ve seen images of the animated Disney movie and the TV show (with Linda Hamilton and Ron Perlman). I just really didn’t know the plot. So I read some cliffs notes, I don’t know if I captured the characters essence but I think these five characters are cute and have potential. 🙂

Let’s see… I digitally painted two more Inktober monsters back in July, but I haven’t put them up in the Redbubble store yet… I think I’m still not completely happy with Mr. Warheads… I keep trying to do like Jake Parker says,”finished not perfect”… but it’s really difficult.

Oh, I attended a live online zentangle class on Aug 14th… it was Entangled Fish with Eni Oken. It was sooooo much fun! 🙂

No post is complete without the silly pups…

Stay safe everyone! And wash your hands! 🙂
Until next time…
