Shelter in Place: Day 66…

Hey guys!

I don’t know, I think maybe I need more sleep, but getting the files/photos ready for this post took forever! Ugh. I think part of the problem was that I worked on the zentangle tile at night and the phone camera chose the wrong white balance which made everything really yellow. I had to take photos using a color card for the final photos just so that I could get the colors right… but the flip side of that is: I relearned how to be a photographer, heh. Some skills you need to practice more often, I guess. Anyway, enough complaining… on to the show and tell!

I was able to attend a live online zoom Zentangle class with Eni Oken, this time we explored the tangle Ratoon. I took a few photos while I was learning the tangle, and then turned those photos into a gif…

Once we learned and practice a bit, it was time to start our tile. I used a brownish ink saturated with water to tint my tile a tan color a few days before class on watercolor hot press paper cut to a 4.5 inch circle. The class was about 3 hours, here’s what I was able to complete in class…

I worked on the tile for a few hours more and here’s the final tile, plus I made you a gif…

I decided to do another tile on my own. This time I used a water soluable tan marker and water to create my tan tile. Also I made you a gif 🙂 …

Human Form

I mentioned in a previous post that I wanted to try to draw mermaids for May’s #mermay, only to realize I need to figure out how to draw the human form. So that’s what I’ve been working on, I’m taking a figure drawing class online thru my subscription to SVS (Society of Visual Storytelling) and I’m supplementing that with some Cognitive Drawing, as well as a patreon subscription to Simone Grunewald. I’m learning lots! Some stuff is familiar, other stuff I’m trying to figure out why I didn’t know it before… but it’s all good. Here are a few pages from my sketch book…
