Hollis and Icantoo (Zentangle)…

Hey guys,

I was able to attend another one of Eni Oken’s online classes yesterday… this time we explored the new Zentangle pattern called Hollis, and we used the pattern Icantoo for the leaves.

The night before the class, I decided to do some homework and check out the step-outs for Hollis and then practice them… this is what I created Friday night, adding various other patterns as I’d seen used on the web…

Saturday morning we had class, and Eni showed us how to created a more dense version of Hollis… here’s what I was able to accomplish during class…

Then I worked on my own to finish the tile…

In class, I used graphite pencil and some black colored pencil, and even some black sakura pen to do some of the shading, but on my own I ended up using a black watercolor pencil and a water brush to do the shading, and I like it better. I had to add a bit of white gel pen thinned out with a water brush to lessen the sakura pen part… I think it worked out pretty good.

Then I continued to play on a tile where I had started practice Hollis noodles in class… to me, my Icantoo pattern reminded me of Flamingo heads… so I ran with it and colored it a more Flamingo red/pink color…

I used a Poppy Red watercolor pencil and water brush to shade the Flamingo inspired tile.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had time to put the latest Inktober monsters in my Redbubble store, yet… I really need to get on that…

Until next time…
