Inktober 2019, Day 8…

A few years back I came to realize that the best time/day to go grocery shopping is Tuesdays at 10am… because they have restocked from the weekend, and everyone who is on their way to work is at work by then, ie. the roads have less traffic. In general, I try to keep to that schedule. But 10am is also when my brain seems to be ready to get to concentrating, so I’ve been starting my Inktober drawing sessions around 10am… also, by 1pm the sun is encroaching upon my art desk… which means that today, I had to figure out when to go to the grocery store. I left just before 8am, knowing that I was asking for time in rush hour, but that’s when I was ready, so whatever. Gosh this is long and drawn out. Anyway. The grocery store I normally go to, just opened up a new, bigger store, and I.don’t.know.where.anything.is! It’s my third time there, and I still get overwhelmed with it all. So, long story too long… I WAS able to get to my art desk by 10:10am… and I started with a Zentangle… not only to warm-up, but to zen out… it’s always funny to me to see the inner workings of my brain represented on the Zentangle tile… it did make me feel better, btw…

Ok, so today’s monster is a cutie… this one makes me smile. 🙂 I apparently drew 8 of them last year, because it was day 8?… and I named them Nerds…

After trying to figure out how one of the robots might look at a three quarter angle, using various props from around the house…

I remembered one-point perspective… and that helped a lot. So I decided to make 8 robot Nerds facing in random directions…

And the dip ink version, blue erased…

Last night, I started working on coloring Dot on the computer, after scanning her in and removing the blue pencil. I tried to keep the texture of the paper in there. I also removed the background… she might be almost ready to figure out what products on my Redbubble store she would look good on…

Puppies! I tried to take a photo of Penny under my desk right after taking photos of my artwork today. She wasn’t having it. She gave me go away eyes, and when I put the reflector near her she really gave me the go away look. So I went into my husband’s office and Duke was very happy to oblige my photography…

Penny was a little more willing then…

THEN I remembered the secret to dog photography… TREATS!
