Inktober 2019, Day 1…

Inktober 2018

Last Inktober I played around with making monsters out of shapes… and ended up with 31 cute monsters (if I do say so myself)…

Near the end of the month, we were getting ready to move, so once October ended these guys got packed up and put away. I had intended to play around with them some more and have them on individual sheets of paper, to possibly scan in and add to my RedBubble store. Well, about 6 months later, we moved again… and somehow it is a year later and I haven’t been able to get back to these guys.

So I thought that since I am devoting time each day for Inktober, why not do the things I was wanting to do several months ago? And now I have some more supplies to play around with too. šŸ˜€

So last Oct.1, I created ‘Redvines’… in the beginning we were naming the monsters after candy… that petered out at some point because it was kinda difficult. So anyway, this one is named, so why not keep it?

Inktober 2018

Here is last years practice page, which I used as reference for today’s drawing…

Today, I redrew Redvines in the new square Plumchester sketchbook, and inked it with the Copic drawing pen…

Then I took the Arnhem cotton rag paper and cut it into 4 equal sheets (4.25 x 5.5 in), then the fun began… I just absolutely love dip pens! I used the new Speedball pen holder and no.512 nib with Speedball super black india ink…

I was a bit shaky at first, it’s been awhile since I’ve drawn something that wasn’t abstract. But soon I got the hang of it and really enjoyed getting back to drawing again. I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

Until next time…
