Update and getting ready for Inktober 2019…

Wow, I did not mean to let 2 1/2 months go by without posting! Holy crap… that’s a long time. I got a bit overwhelmed with everything and needed some offline time. I honestly can’t remember everything I did since the last post… but for the last three weeks, I’ve been obsessed with learning Python… I realize it’s not really my brand on this blog, and it’s a little hard to photograph. But I thought I’d show you a bit of what I’ve been working on… in a sec… but I also wanted to celebrate that tomorrow is October 1st, which is the beginning of Inktober! Woohoo… so I will be starting that tomorrow and plan to blog along with my drawings. I also have a bit of a backlog of pup pictures, because I know some of you come here for those. 😀

For those of you curious… we bought a Raspberry Pi 4 and my husband encouraged me to pick up programming again (I know a bit of C++ and Perl). He thought I’d really like Python 3… turns out I remember a bit of Python, so I must have played around with it before… anyway… I was working through the Rapsberry Pi 4 book and learning Scratch and a bit of Python 3, when I came across a exercise program that has you writing a text-based game that is a maze in a house with a monster… I literally became obsessed with continually improving upon this game. My program is now a 16 room maze with various difficulty levels and lots of monsters, and weapons, and items to get… and there is combat too. I’m pretty proud of myself to be honest. The programming I did in school was stuff like make a bubble sort and then it didn’t really seem to go anywhere from there. But this game has me thinking of new things I want to add, which then has me researching how to write that bit of code and ultimately teaching me the Python language in a fun and engaging way. Here’s what the house looks like in my mind, as you can see I’ve been adding rooms…

So, tomorrow is Inktober! I think I have an idea of what I’m going to do this year, but I’ll decide for sure once I start playing around with the supplies. Speaking of supplies, I purchased this year’s Inktober kit from ArtSnacks…
