My perception of time is really off lately… it appears that it has been a month since my last post. I have been working on various projects, maybe you’d be interested to see?
After my last post about Gesso, I tried a few more drawings with gesso but quickly moved on to HOT PRESS watercolor paper. I recently figured out that Hot Press has less texture than Cold Press watercolor paper… the reduced texture is more in line with my pen work then playing around with watercolors… I started several projects… some are still in process (WIPs)… others I’ve finally completed.
Gesso
In my last post I mentioned wanting to color one of the tiles, I did indeed color it.Β My husband mentioned that it reminded him of New Mexico art, so I looked up the color palette of Aztec and Mayan art and came up with this…
Getting out of my comfort zone with the color palette, started me down an interesting road…
Showgirl
This one started out with several showgirl tangle patterns, a few printemps and then a couple ribbons on the top. I used various watercolor markers, colored gel pens, colored micron pens, and even a a few travel watercolor paints, it was fun to play around with various ideas…
Loops
I thought I had taken more progress shots on this one, but it seems I did not. Anyway, this one is pretty cool, more ideas tried out…
Tangles used in this piece: Showgirl, Paradox, Wrapped, Trella, Trefoil, and Qbelle.
Henna Drum
I’m still working on this one, it’s turning out rather interesting (henna drum)…
Scena
This next one (scenaΒ in the style of Eni Oken), I was thinking about sea shells and narwhal horns, but since I did it in red and yellows… my husband saw pasta and red sauce! Haha π I added a bit of 3D shading to hopefully make some of the shells look like flowers, but that’s the great thing about abstract, you can see whatever you want to see π …
Pups
Lastly, the pups have gained access to the kitchen again, and luckily Penny hasn’t tried to take food off the counter this time. π
Until next time…
