The past two weeks have been odd… Penny is recovering from her first of three heartworm treatment injections, she is on restricted exercise until mid-November. She is a very social and active girl, so it has been a little difficult since she doesn’t understand why she isn’t allowed to run and play. She’s also on Predisone (a steroid) to reduce inflammation of the arteries as the heartworms dissolve in her system. We’ve dealt with a dog on steroids before and we knew that it makes them SUPER hungry, thirsty and prone to have accidents in the house (because of all the water they drink and then having to go a lot more often)… but with the addition of having to keep her calm it’s been, well… exhausting. My husband was out of town for two days last week and then had jury summons for a day the following week, so it was me carrying her up and down the stairs a LOT more often than before… she’s such a cutie, but I’m feeling quite wiped out. I’m now trying to train her to go potty on pee-pads on the balcony because I managed to hurt my knee mid climbing the stairs and it was not fun dealing with that alone. My husband has been carrying her lately so that my knee can heal.
When I’m not trying to get some rest between outings, I’m working on art to be ‘boring’ so that Penny will rest and not run around the house following me. Most of the art is still in progress, but I thought I’d have a show and tell anyway.
Mug Drawings…
A couple of drawings on my husband’s morning tea mug…
Zendala…
I have subscribed to Eni Oken’s Art Club, and one of the videos was on zendalas. I decided to practiced making a zendala… tangles used: Peanuckle, Bunzo, 3D Mooka, Joki, and Hollibaugh. I kept feeling like it wasn’t quite contrast-y enough so I kept working on the color shading, I think it’s finally what I envisioned…
Watercolor WIPs …
After watching one of Eni Oken’s videos, I decided to play around with watercolor backgrounds, I plan to do more shading in colored pencil (I just had to wait for the paper to dry)…
Echo Lines…
I also spent some time reading Eni Oken’s Echo Lines e-book, and then spent the whole day playing with echo lines on my Wacom while my husband was downtown for jury duty. Occasionally, I’d send him a picture from my phone of my progress, then I decided to have all the practice pieces combine into one huge (5000px x 5000px) drawing. Then I started to work on the shading… shading is going to take days to complete…
Pups…
Duke figured out that the coffee table was just the right distance from his spot on the dogbed to be able to prop up his chin… heehee…
Until next time…
