A few days ago I purchased an ebook from Eni Oken’s bookstore called 3D Tangle: Zentangle Magic Moments. After reading it, I started to work through the exercises and magic moments did happen. So I created another, and another, and then three more. I’m so happy with my results, I feel like I’ve leveled up again! 😀
Magic Moments: Tile 1 — my husband says that it makes him think that it’s an alternate universe where snails live. 😀
Magic Moments: tile 2 — At first I wasn’t happy where this tile was going, but I continued to work on it adding some tentacles and lots of auras. I think it is very bold and contrast-y and it has started to grow on me. 🙂
Magic Moments: tile 3 — I really, really like this one. And it also looks like a place where snails live. 😛
On Tuesday, election day, I was a nervous wreck, so I turned to Zentangle to help me cope, I decided to try out this week’s Diva Challenge using the tangle Eaxy. The day after the election I was in shock, disappointed, and embarrassed for our country, but mostly shock and disbelief… so once I again I turned to zentangle to help me cope, I continued to play around with Eaxy and with color… enjoy…
Election day… playing with Eaxy for the Diva Challenge. I like how this one turned out…
The day after… in shock. Playing with Eaxy and color. I like how these turned out…
I had this leaf from a previous Diva Challenge that I didn’t do because I had run out of time that week. But I still wanted to do it, so I added Eaxy to keep in in line with this week’s challenge. 🙂

Until next time…

All are beautiful, but I’ll just say something about the Diva one: GORGEOUS!!! You really master Eaxy!
Thank you so much, Annemarie! 😀 I love how Eaxy is just X’s, but it is easy to get lost after a bit. 😛
Dammit!! When I see those zentangles, I sigh!
Sigh with Zen-fullness, I hope 😀 You might actually be interested in the book I reference in this post. It’s intended as a book for people who haven’t taken the Zentangle classes, she mentions something I hadn’t realized before… all zentangle patterns are based on just a few different types of strokes. If you can write i s c o then you can do the tangles. Some tangles do require more focus than others, and some people (me included) like to add a bit of flare… but the actual tangles themselves are doable by almost anyone. 🙂 The book can be purchased on her website, and then you just download the PDF file and you have the book. 🙂 Hope this helps. 😀
With Zen-fulness!
I can write i c s o!
It is somewhat like Chinese. When I was learning to write (not anymore, sadly), I realised that if you follow the rules, it is doable!
Well then, are you going to try out zentangle now? I think you can do it, especially if you enjoyed writing in Chinese… that language is so flow-y and beautiful. 🙂
Yeah… I think I must get my sister to get me a Zentangle book when she visits from the USA
🙂
Beautiful and well balanced work, all your tiles, my favorites are the two last ones with these brilliant colors!!!
Thank you so much, Ria! 😀
I think I may have to buy that book! Your tiles are lovely, all of them!
Thanks so much, Magrat! 😀 I’ve purchased a few of Eni’s books and I have learned lots from all of them. 🙂
Love you shading work! Fantastic! I like the composition and colour of Eaxy in your fifth tile. But my favorite is your leaf tile…. colour is fabulous and love how you used schattuck!
Thanks again, Deanne! 🙂 The shading work I learned from Eni’s books, it was definitely worth the investment. 🙂
What terrific tiles using Eni’s techniques! I think I might have time invest in those ebooks! My favourite is your leaf tile. I love the colours! And how you’ve used schattuck! Fabulous! 🙂
Thanks, Deanne! 😀 I’ve purchased a few of Eni’s books and every time I improve after reading and practicing. She has a great style and explains in a way that really speaks to me. Definitely worth a look. 🙂
Tile 3 is fabulous!
Thanks, Joanne! 😀
Beautiful tiles! I especially like the last one with the leaf and Eaxy.
Thank you so much, Kate! 😀
