I needed a bit of downtime, I didn’t realize I needed weeks worth of downtime, but that’s how it goes sometimes. During my hermit-hood, I did some more tangling.
I think it pretty much represents the chaos and the attempt at structure I’ve been experiencing the last few weeks… and of course there must be tentacles… because tentacles! * oh and a few snails popped up too.
And for what it’s worth, that was probably the expression my dog had the last few weeks as well, as she watch me try to get more organized and less hermit-like. 😛
I created this digital art in GIMP1.
I used the Painting filter in the G’MIC2 plug-in for GIMP [Filters->Artistic->Painting], then I used threshold [Color->Threshold] to convert it to black and white. Then using the pencil tool, I drew various tangle patterns.
I would work on a section for a few hours and then come back to it on another day, this took a few weeks to finish, but it was very helpful for my sanity. I highly recommend tangling for stress relief.
Until next time…

* I am a big fan of tentacles, I blame H.P. Lovecraft. 😛
1 GIMP is Open Source software that is available for all platforms (Linux, Mac, and Windows), it is a photo editor that does many (if not all) of the things you can do in Photoshop. You can download it for free here. The GIMP online manual can be found here.
Like Wilber? You can get him here.
2 G’MIC Plug-in for GIMP is a plug-in that has a ton of filters, you can download it here.
